We believe that the books and services we provide through our book clubs are ideal for helping your child enjoy a lifetime of reading and learning. Our book clubs were designed to help boost early childhood literacy by encouraging parents and children to share their favorite stories as a part of their everyday routine. The early literacy experts here at Hooked on Reading have carefully crafted programs that succeed in supporting early literacy by offering a wealth of resources that make reading fun, affordable, and convenient for families. How does the program work?

You can either start with our gift finder, which matches your child’s age and gender to the books that are most appropriate, or you can begin by choosing the type of club and delivery frequency that fits best for you and your child.

What’s in the Box?

Each month, for the duration you choose, you’ll receive three books, curated by our staff of parents and early literacy experts. Our book formats vary depending on the book club, consisting of high quality cloth, board and hardcover books.

How are the books selected?

The publishers of Hooked on Reading have been creating age-appropriate books for very young children for more than 40 years! We have done extensive research on child development and literacy development. But, no amount of research is as valuable in creating the right books as is our experience serving literally millions of families like yours in the United States and throughout Europe for so many years. Our shared reading book packages are only sold directly to parents, not through any retail stores anywhere. As a result, we receive plenty of direct feedback... good and bad... about each package we send. We use that feedback to constantly change our programs: introducing new books, phasing out old ones, and moving around packages to the point where the most parents tell us they are enjoying the best experience with our programs. That’s why we’ve been so successful for so long. Key to that continued success is that caring parents like you give us your comments on how our programs are working in your home.

Why do you need to know my child’s age?

What makes us different from all other book programs is our variety of books and book formats, and our ability to ship books that are specifically matched to your child’s age. We’ve spent more than 40 years researching how to do this and it is how we ensure that both you and your child will enjoy, be engaged by, and learn from every package we send.

Why do you need to know my child’s name and gender?

Actually, we don’t! We ask for your child’s name and gender just so that we can personalize all of our communications to you and your child. If you prefer not to provide this information, it will not impact the quality of your experience as an Early Moments customer.

How much is shipping?

How do I return a book I do not wish to keep?

We understand that every book we send might not be absolutely perfect for you. If you are not delighted with any package, return it to us within 30 days of when it was shipped by following these steps:

  1. Call our toll-free Customer Care number at 1-800-353-3140 to get a return authorization (RA) number.
  2. Write the RA number on the outside of the package and on the original invoice that came with the package.
  3. Mail the package to: Hooked on Reading, 4 Mountainview Terrace Danbury, CT 06810. Please note that, in order to keep our prices low for all members, the credit or refund will reflect the full purchase price of the package you received less the original shipping and handling costs. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse you for the return postage, nor can we accept any returns for any reason after 30 days or packages that are returned without an RA number.
If you ever receive a book from us that’s not in perfect condition, please call our toll-free Customer Care number and let us know. We’ll send you a postage-paid label to return the damaged book and rush out a replacement at no charge as soon as we receive the damaged book.
